Tuesday Eve
Monday, March 15, 2010 at 9:46AM
Beginning today, I'm making a small resolution to make Mondays about Inspiration and Intention. Tuesdays have long been my favorite day of the week and an easy day for me to get happy, but Mondays, not so much. I often dread Mondays. Mondays mark the beginning of a new work week for my day job and so I associate some negativity with Mondays.
Having recently listened to the audio version of The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin, the thought has been on my mind to do my own mini Happiness Project. I'm not committed to dedicating a whole year to the project or even get really hyperfocused on it, but I love the idea of identifying little ways I can inject a little happy into my days.
So I've decided that my blog is the perfect place for me to start. Not only can I inject happiness into my life, I can share with you and I would love it if you would share back in the comments. I always love it when I come across a blog that uses the comments section as a place for conversation and dialog. It would rock my socks off if that were to happen here!
My friend Kate has been asking the following every Monday: "Monday Focus: What would you like to get done this week? What's your focus? What would you give yourself permission to experience?"
So on this Tuesday Eve, my focus is to start the week with Inspiration and Intention. How about you?
More on my focus for the week and what I'm giving myself permission to experience in the comments section below... (hint, big news!)

I'm planning some minor changes here on my blog that will have a major impact. I am so excited to share that soon you'll see Inspiring Interviews, Guest Bloggers, Artist Spotlights, and more of my Inspiration and Intentions.
One of the first updates you're going to see is a change to my "about" page, where I'm going to open up and share a bit more about my goals and dreams. I hope you'll be along for the ride!
Mucho love, belief and appreciation,
Carmen
First, Carmen, I'm super excited about the new additions to your blog! WooHoo!
This week, I'm going to allow myself to believe. Believe in my dreams. Believe in my strength to follow them. Believe in my family's willingness to support me. Believe that the shift from "stay at home mom" to "full time Art student" won't cause our world to shatter to pieces. All will be well. Repeat it with me. All will be well. Ahhhh, that felt good. :)
@Stephanie - I'm SO cheering for you every step of the way!!! And super excited for you. Way to leap girl!
xo & belief in YOU,
Carmen
I am going to try to get through the week without my to-do list bogging me down and without the guilt and frustration of NOT crossing everything off that list. Last week, the list got the better of me. Not so for this week. I hope.
Happy Tuesday Eve. :)
And the new changes to your blog sound so exciting. Good for you!
This is so exciting! I can't wait to see all the changes on your blog. :) My focus is very direct. I need to photograph a commissioned piece that is giving me a headache and send it on it's way to it's new owner. You have no idea how relieved i'm gonna be when that happens. :)
@Nancy - Thanks Nancy! One thing at a time! Here's to a week that happens just as it is meant to!
@Natasha - Thank you! I'm sure finishing this up will leave you with a huge feeling of accomplishment! ♥
For me I need to focus on organization of my paper work. This morning I jumped into the begining stages of getting ready to prepare for my 2009 taxes. I am surrounded by piles of bank statements(some still in their sealed envelopes), and receipts. As I sort, search, and relize that some of what I need is at my studio, I am making it a goal to put aside time to create a file system ( that I use) for the buisness end of my creative work.
I started an art journal this weekend. Cover is painted. Pages are drying now. I'll be working on it this week. It makes me look forward to getting home to get to work on it. (and my little boys are making them too so we're getting to spend creative time together. I love it).
looking forward to seeing the new changes to your blog, Carmen! you are moving in a wonderful direction and it's great to see you tackling your dreams. my focus this week? step back and remember to live in the moment. i have my first big show of the spring coming up March 27, and i tend to get overwhelmed when i have a big show looming (because i'm the world's worst procrastinator when it comes to preparing for shows...). so my goal is not to get caught up in all that i feel i need to do and just be happy with whatever does get done. :-)
I would like to concentrate on the things I want to do, as opposed to the things I feel I need to do. I often find that I spend my whole week trying to check off the things on my to do list that I never get to the things that I want to do.
What a lovely plan - I think it's great that you are working to give yourself that inspirational lift when you need it. I also take Mondays slow by just filling myself with inspiration rather than having plans to finish things or rushing around too much. Easeee into the week I say! Every Monday I blog about something that is beautiful, inspiring or just makes me smile... :)
beautiful! i like to drink in your words and hope to believe them for myself someday!
You guys are making my day with your comments!
Can't wait to see the changes in your blog. YOU GO GIRL!
And I love the idea of purposefully focusing on Mondays as a happy day. I'm actually looking forward to Monday now!
